Paynton Performance is a small-business that grew out of a combination of one mechanic's hobbies: computers and horsepower! Not satisfied with the inability to peer into modern engines 'black box,' Joel decided to advance his skills by aquiring ECM tuning software and learning the details of the operation of engine and transmission controllers.
For several years Joel has continued working his "day job" at Stetson GM in Drayton Valley, AB. They have been gracious enough to allow me to continue to operate within their shop. Many have asked if Joel will start his own shop - the answer at this point is no. Over time, working at Stetson GM has provided the opportunity the ability to keep up with new technology and GM training has been a tremendous asset to custom tuning. While Joel has built some cool stuff - a 4.8 liter turbocharged Chevy Silverado that runs 11's on the 1/4 mile, several twin-turbo Corvettes, fuel injected 1969 Camaro, and a monster twin-turbocharged 2011 Camaro Convertible to name a few, the core of our business continues to be the everyday working vehicles - diesel and gas powered pickup trucks.
